Financial Aid at University of Florida

April 22nd, 2009

Scholarships are the awards based upon academic achievement, still financial need can be considered.
Scholarships should have to be paid back, and they do not need recipients to conduct services to get them. They are regarded as gift help. Scholarships are given by different sources like the university, the individual, and state colleges and departments, plus individuals and private companies.
Grants given by the university are programs administered and awarded via the SFA (Office for Student Financial Affairs).
Grants are gift help (no repayment needed) given to students showing financial need. Students turn for the the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Pell Grant, I. Douglas Turner Grant, and Florida Student Assistance Grant by finishing a FAFSA.
Borrowing money for education is a serious fiscal obligation. Besides principal borrowed, interest is charged for fund’s use. It is significant to remember if you borrow money it must be paid off. While signing loan promissory notes, you should make an ethical and legal agreement. Legally, you will be asked to sign the note that promises to pay back the loan. Ethically, you will be responsible to future borrowers, as collections from previous loans are a main funding source for any new loans. You should think about this commitment carefully while taking out a loan, plus deem how much you reasonably can pay off.
Aslo, UF takes part in the Federal Direct Loan Program consisting of the Federal Direct Stafford Loan, Federal Direct PLUS Loan, Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, and Federal Direct Consolidation Loan Program.
